Weekend Destinations Near One Chestnut Place

Quincy’s newest luxury high rise apartment building, One Chestnut Place, is all about ease for your lifestyle. Being perfectly placed a 3-minute walk from the red line into Boston and just seconds from some of Quincy Center’s best restaurants, cafes, and bars, you will never be left without an abundance of options to keep you active and social. But when that long weekend feeling begins to set in and it is time to escape the city life, One Chestnut Place has you covered. Between its convenient location and the fact that you have the luxury of having your vehicle with you, a weekend getaway couldn’t be easier. Here are 3 of our personal favorite weekend escapes under 2.5 hours away!

Newport, Rhode Island 1 hour and 40 minutes

Newport Rhode IslandYou can’t go wrong with an elegant escape to Newport, Rhode Island. Being just over an hour and a half drive, you will have plenty of time to explore all day before hitting the downtown for your evening adventures. Here are some must see spots while you are in the area.

The cliff walk and beach
A Gorgeous oceanside cliff walk that graces you with some of the area’s most affluent and breathtaking mansions. Take your photo overlooking the crashing waves or take in a beautiful sunset on one of the many benches perfectly placed along the way.

For day two, grab your beach blanket and head to the same spot but this time post up on the beautiful warm sand and enjoy a Del’s lemonade while dipping your toes in the tide.

Boutiques 
After your day by the ocean, unpack in one of the many boutique-style hotels and head into the walkable downtown area. Newport is lined with adorable boutique shops to choose the perfect souvenir and grab a gelato to help beat the heat.

Waterfront bites and bands
You will have plenty to choose from when you are ready for some fresh seafood, refreshing cocktails and a little live music. The waterfront is lined with beautiful restaurants and patios. Be sure to swing by one of our favorites, The Landing.

Portsmouth, NH 1 hour and 45 minutes

Portsmouth, New Hampshire has all of the charm that you are looking for. From its brick streets to its tax-free boutiques, you are sure to be left enchanted. You will get lost in the historic feel that the city has to offer.

Oceanfront feasts
Along the cobblestone streets you will be welcomed by a multitude of oceanfront seafood restaurants to choose from. With many places catching their menu right there in Portsmouth, you are guaranteed to have a delicious meal. Check out one of our many favorite spots in the area, Surf!

Nightlife
The city is known for its breweries and its easy-going atmosphere. With a multitude of great craft breweries to choose from you could dedicate an entire day to finding your favorite flavor to take home with you! Be sure to hit the original brewery, Portsmouth Brewery, to say that you are a real local now.

Martha’s Vineyard 2 hours and 20 minutes

Gingerbread Houses Marthas VineyardIf you haven’t yet been to Martha’s Vineyard, might we suggest moving this to the top of your list. You are transported to your own little world once you set foot on that ferry and sail into the island. Booking your boutique-style stay right in Oak Bluffs will put you in walking or biking distance to just about anywhere you want to go on the Island.

Exploring
With a bike rental shop on every corner, they make it easy to grab a set of wheels and set off exploring for the day. One of our favorite stops along your self-guided tour are the gingerbread cottages. You will think you got lost and landed on gumdrop lane, you won’t be disappointed.

Spend the day with Oak Bluffs neighbor in Edgartown. With its historic and elegant buildings, it is easy to see that Edgartown was Martha’s Vineyards first colonial settlement and has kept every bit of its charm.

Eats and Nightlife
The Island is full of fresh seafood and refreshing cocktails. Once you have had your fix of oysters, make sure you treat yourself to a homemade ice cream at Mad Martha’s. In the evening, the bars are transformed with live music and everyone is welcomed to drink with the locals.
